I'm glad that's over! Actually, I really enjoyed the day and the run itself wasn't as demanding as I feared it might be due to my less than ideal preparation - note to self, I must train harder for future runs. Despite the start being a bit frantic (sat nav took us the 'scenic' route and traffic near York was heavy), the weather was relatively kind and the atmosphere with all the runners was great.
Once I had taken the wristband from our Leg A runner Carolyn, I proceeded to duck and weave around all of the runners who were in it for the long-haul. A slight incline around mile four wasn't ideal but it was immediately followed by the much appreciated opportunity to free-wheel down a hill. I was pleased with my overall time (averaged pretty much bang on an 8 minute mile) and managed to make it back to the finish line to watch our Leg F runner Ian produce a devastating turn of foot for a sprint finish which ensured our team time was a respectable 3 hours 47 minutes.
Overall I really enjoyed the entire day and finding a Double Decker in my goodie bag just put the icing on the cake! If the opportunity arises, I'll definitely be back again next year.
